You might be a yogi if . . .

10)    You can reach every itch on your back with ease.

9)    You find yourself waiting in line at the grocery store, balancing on one leg.

8)    You like to fold up your body and hide in small spaces (that one might just be me)

7)    You get volunteered at work to stand on the chair to hang the decorations from the ceiling.

6)    When a frightening situation presents itself, you quickly bring your mind into a world of quiet and peace that, to your embarrassment, takes some time to be brought back out from.

5)    You find yourself saying words like, “mantra,” “pranayama” or “sacred space”

4)    You pay no attention during the day as to when your shoes have come off.

3)    You like to sit cross-legged in the grass and embrace your breath.

2)    You can open a can of pickles with Warrior arms and Drishti mental focus

1)   You want yoga to touch everyone.

Key for those who are new to yoga :
Mantra– a sacred word or phrase that has a transforming effect on the person saying it.
Pranayama– Breath control
Drishti-yogic gazing

How has yoga practice had an effect on your life outside of class?

Being a new comer to Yoga with only 2 classes (I look the part too), I do find it very peaceful. I love the way Bethany is so graceful with each move she does and does at eases. I am hoping down the road, I too can become like that.
These questions are great – I only do 3 of them questions 1,4,9 and wish to do questions 2,3,6,8,10 and no way on question 7. On question 5 – I do find myself searching for a word to calm me down at times, like the word peace or God is looking over me, don’t worry or one my favorite Bible verses.

    • Thanks for sharing, Dawn! I’m so glad you are in class. Yoga is so much more than just bending and stretching. It is a way of life, a philosophy. And scripture is our mantra. What is your favorite verse when it comes to frightening situations?

      • Philippians 4:6-67 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

  2. “God is our refuge and stength, an ever present help in times of trouble”
    Psalm 46:1 I liked your 10, 9, and 8. It gave me a chuckle. 🙂
