What’s the big deal with yoga anyway? There have been endless exercise fads over the years. What is it about yoga that is timeless?
This is what you can expect with my upcoming classes: A stretching of the body. Strengthening of the bones and muscles. But yoga is not just breath and sweat. It’s music in your ears. It’s scripture meditation for your soul. A dim room with candles circles your bodies. And the smell of lavender touches your senses. Yoga is an experience. And that is what I believe sets it apart from many other styles of exercise. Yoga is an opportunity to participate in an experience with others.
The word holistic is often used. This means all parts of the body are influenced and strengthened through yoga practice: body, mind, and spirit. And people gain so much from unique aspects like stillness and meditation. Stillness is countercultural for us. We do not easily enter into the savasanas of our practice, where we become completely still, clearing our minds and giving them a rest.
Therefore yoga stretches us in many ways and appeals to all of our needs. Want to see what I’m talking about? Come join a free class and let me share the blessing of yoga with you.
Have you taken a yoga class before? How has yoga surprised you, in that you gained something you did not expect?
