How many of us have suffered from misalignment in our spine? Probably most of us. It’s amazing how one little problem effects the whole body.
After I had my son, I started having some hip pain from time to time. It was what felt like sciatic flares. So I got some X-rays and went to the chiropractor.
What she discovered seemed to surprise her.
My hips were rotated off axis, and I had developed scoliosis.
These issues are common for new moms but what was uncommon was how little discomfort I was experiencing with it.
She told me yoga saved me from loads of pain I would normally have experienced with issues like that.
I don’t claim to be a professional when it comes to spinal health but yoga has produced so many testimonies for people who were experiencing problems with their vertebrae and overall skeletal structure. Yoga teaches us to move with proper alignment, lengthening and settling our body into the proper posture. Yoga strengthens the muscles around our bones to pull our body into place.
Alignment is very important to me when I teach my classes.
I may take more time on it than most teachers but learning the proper way to practice a pose is key to gaining the full benefits of it and reducing the risk of injury.
