Keep It Moving

October 29, 2012

It’s easy to sit all day when you are stuck in your house. Lying on the couch, curled up with a blanket, and eating for entertainment are the norm when you are confined to the walls of your home. But on days like we have had recently, it is good to keep moving.

Now do not be mislead. I am wholeheartedly for enjoying a cozy afternoon with a book or a nap. We all need to rest. But if you find yourself sitting in one spot for nine, ten, maybe even twelve hours of the day, watching television, here are some better options.

Sleep in just as much as you need. You can sometimes enter a vicious cycle of fatigue if you sleep too much. That may mean getting up at seven. But start your day with exercise. Do some yoga in the quiet of the morning.

A day off is an opportunity to create a productive and rejuvenating day of your own.

Make a list of all of the things you want to do with your day and stick with it. Not allowing you to feel rushed with the list or make them chores. But create fun things that keep you moving.

I feel so blessed to not have cable television. I haven’t had it for years and this has given me opportunities to create and pursue other hobbies that give me greater enjoyment.

How much time do you spend each day, watching television? What could you accomplish if you gave up one hour? What kinds of talents could you develop or projects you could complete?

  1. I agree rest is much needed, but there are soo many fun projects to do! I personally find lots of Pinterest things to do! Now and again a good movie is nice, but it is easy to get in a “lazy” slymp if we are not careful:) I like to scrapbook, play instruments, decorate etc. As a stay at home mom I have to have a list, or else my day might fly away to the internet, phone calls etc. Excercise is always a great start to a morning; hwever mine doesn’t start until nap time some days! Ha! Too many days I relish the extra 15-30 mins. Of sleep that I get until our little one wakes! Great ideas Brthany, can I show this post to my husband…. I mean… Uh… J/k::)) I a
m glad we don’t have cable too:)!

  2. Please disregard all the annoying spelling errors, typing on my phone Always brings those, sigh.

    • It’s great to hear from you Amber! Thanks for sharing your ideas. I was afraid my audience would be small with this issue, and especially exclude moms who are constantly running after the little ones and don’t have time to be lazy but I’m glad you enjoyed it.
